Junior Software Developer – Full Time; On-Site in Ottawa, Canada

Reports to: Manager, Software Development

Schedule / Shift: Monday – Friday; Hours: 37.5 per week;

This role is part of the growing Software Development Team at Allyant. In this role you will be working in a customer-focused, innovative, challenging and fun learning environment, and will be responsible for the software tools producing various output formats optimized for accessibility, utilized by our customers’ blind and low=vision end-users..

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of software components.
  • Develop high quality and reliable software code.  
  • Work collaboratively with fellow developers and quality assurance.
  • Contribute to the team’s best practices and development standards.

Education/Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Knowledge of HTML and XML
  • Experience with Windows environment and .NET programming
  • Understanding of databases and SQL
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe tools

Math Ability:

  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, termination of test reliability and validity.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Time Management – Managing one’s own time with a proven ability to deliver quality work and meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Must be able to clear credit and criminal background check.
